Accounting Assistant

JOB FUNCTION: Provide support for the Accounting Department/Finance Division, including but not limited
to the preparation and reconciliation of:

• General ledger
• Accounts payable
• Fixed assets
• Prepaid and accrued expenses
• Deferred compensation
• Correspondent bank and miscellaneous general ledger accounts
• Tax remittances and filings
• Prepare regulatory reporting
• Manage finance division record retention
 
JOB DUTIES:

• Daily and timely data entry into the Bank’s general ledger system including exception item processing and manual postings
• Daily and timely vendor invoice processing and document imaging via the Bank’s accounts payable system. Accounts payable processing includes proper IRS Form W-9 Request        for Taxpayer Identification Number and Form 1099-MISC Miscellaneous Income tax reporting
• Monthly fixed asset processing and reconciliation via the Bank’s fixed asset accounting system
• Monthly processing of prepaid expenses including reconciliation of the subsystem to general ledger
• Monthly processing of deferred compensation interest accounting and statement rendering
• Timely reconciliation of correspondent bank and miscellaneous general ledger accounts inclusive of research and resolution of outstanding items
• Timely reconciliation, remittance and filing of various Federal and State taxes
• Assisting other Bank department personnel in the research and resolution of reconcilement differences
• Assisting in annual internal and external audit reviews
• Completion and submission of The Federal Reserve Form FR-2900 Report of Transaction Accounts, Other Deposits, and Vault Cash
• Quarterly preparation of various Call Report schedules
• Completion of various Annual Report disclosure schedules
• Management of Finance Division record retention
• Adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory banking requirements. Completes all required training. Actively communicates matters of potential audit or       compliance risk
• Other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree and/or equivalent work experience
• 3 - 5 year experience in the accounting profession preferred
• Highly developed computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency in Excel spreadsheets
• Attendance required during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting periods
• Ability to work independently
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• High level of initiative and adaptability
• Knowledge of Jack Henry Silverlake software systems preferred
• Knowledge of Fiserv Prologue Fixed Asset Accounting software preferred

Full-time M-F, 8:30-4:30
