About the Position

As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will grow residential mortgage business through referral relationships, community engagement, and personalized service, helping customers identify lending solutions aligned with their financial goals.

As the primary point of contact throughout the residential mortgage lending process, you will guide borrowers through closing while delivering exceptional service and maintaining compliance with the Bank’s lending standards and applicable regulatory requirements.

This position is well suited for a self-motivated professional who enjoys developing new business, fostering long-term relationships, and achieving production goals in a collaborative community banking environment.

What You’ll Do

As the Mortgage Loan Originator, you will:

Develop new residential mortgage business through referrals, networking, and community involvement.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with real estate professionals, builders, and other referral partners.
  • Achieve established production goals while maintaining exceptional customer service, loan quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Originate residential mortgage loans, including conventional, FHA, VA, portfolio, and home equity products.
  • Meet with prospective customers to assess financial needs and recommend appropriate mortgage and home equity lending solutions.
  • Clearly explain loan products, terms, and conditions to help customers make informed financial decisions.
  • Gather and submit complete and accurate documentation to support loan applications.
  • Maintain ownership of the customer relationship by proactively addressing issues that may impact the mortgage process, timelines, or outcomes.
  • Partner with team members across the Bank to identify opportunities to deepen customer relationships by addressing customers’ broader financial needs.  
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of mortgage products, lending guidelines, regulatory requirements, interest rates, and local market trends.
  • Adhere to Bank policies, complete required training, and promptly communicate potential operational, audit, or compliance concerns.

What You’ll Bring

Education

High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of three years of residential mortgage lending experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success originating residential mortgage loans, cultivating referral relationships, and generating new business.

Licensure

Active Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) registration/licensure in good standing.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, lending procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and assess creditworthiness while exercising sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to develop new business through referrals, networking, community engagement, and relationship building.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with mortgage loan origination software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Bank’s market area to meet with customers and support business development activities.

Compensation

This position is compensated through a recoverable draw and commission structure, with earnings based on individual production.
