Stay Covered with Overdraft Protection!  

 

Overdraft Protection Plans are optional services that can protect your deposit accounts.  We offer several options such as linking your deposit account to a savings account or you can apply for a line of credit.  We also provide many tools, including online banking, mobile banking and account alerts, to help you manage your accounts and prevent overdrafts. 

 

Here is our standard overdraft practice:

 
Our standard overdraft practice automatically applies to your personal deposit account. This courtesy service permits us to help you avoid embarrassment during the time of check presentment or an unexpected transaction that draws down your account balance. 
 
We will authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions: 
  • checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
  • automatic bill payments and ACH transactions
We will not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions and they will be denied(unless you 'opt-in', more information below):
  • ATM transactions
  • everyday debit card transactions at point of sale (POS)
 
How to avoid being denied: for ATM and everyday debit card transactions identified as POS, you can request to 'opt-in' for these types of transactions.  Call us at 302-658-6850 for more information and how to opt-in. 
 
 
What is the cost of an overdraft: 
  • We will charge a $35.00 fee each time we pay an overdraft or cover an insufficient funds(NSF) transaction.
  • We will cap the number of fees charged to 4 OD/NSF fee transactions per day.
  • If the overdraft is $6.00 or less at the end of any business day, there will be no overdraft charge.
How quickly must I repay an overdraft? 
 
Make every attempt  to bring your account to a positive balance as soon as possible and your account must be brought positive within 30 days.  If the account continues with a negative balance for 30 days, it will be closed and reported as a negative balance account to ChexSystems, which is a consumer reporting agency.

Sweep Account 

 
The easiest and quickest way to set up overdraft protection is to link your checking account to another savings or checking account. When a transaction occurs and your checking account is overdrawn, the available funds are 'swept' from the linked deposit account to your checking account.  You can use this linked account for more than one checking account to help protect all your personal accounts.  Each time a deposit account sweep occurs, a $5 sweep fee will be charged to your checking account.  
 
 This is the quickest way to set up overdraft protection and 
less expensive than getting an overdraft fee. 
 
 

Overdraft Line of Credit

 
Apply for an Overdraft Line of Credit that will be used to cover overdrafts in your checking accounts. All types of transactions that create an overdraft will be covered, including ATM and every day debit card transactions, up to the amount of your line of credit.  Each time a line of credit transfer occurs, a $5 sweep fee will be charged to your checking account. Amounts are transferred in increments of $100. Overdraft Lines of Credit can be established for amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000, based on your credit qualifications.  Overdraft Lines of Credit are subject to credit approval. 
 
Each time you make on-time payments, you are helping to build your credit score.

Personal Line of Credit 

Apply for a Personal Line of Credit, and once approved, you can transfer funds from the personal line of credit to your linked checking account whenever you need extra cash. Use the Mobile Banking App for a quick transfer and your funds are available immediately.  There is no fee for this service.  You can transfer any amount up to the amount of  your available line of credit.  Personal Lines of Credit are subject to credit approval. 
 
You can use this line of credit for other purchases, not just to cover overdrafts
and every time you make an on-time payment, you are helping to build your credit score.
